To set up a Belkin wireless router, connect the router to your modem and computer using appropriate cables, and use the setup disc that came with the router to initiate the installation process that automatically sets up the device. Alternatively, access the Web-based setup page with a browser, and manually configure the necessary settings.
Before proceeding with the setup process, perform power cycling by unplugging the modem and router from the power source, connecting the two devices using an Ethernet cable and then plugging the devices back to the power source. Insert the setup disc, and type the necessary information in Network Name and Password fields. This information is typically printed at the bottom of the router. Click Next to finalize the process, and register the device if necessary.
If you don’t have a setup disc, open a Web browser, type “192.168.2.1.” into the address bar, press Enter, click on the Login link, type the password, and click Submit. If it’s the first time you’re setting up the router, leave the password field empty, and click Submit. Click on the Connection Type link in the Internet WAN section of the configuration screen, select a connection type, and click Next. If you don’t know which connection type to select, contact your Internet service provider to find out. When ready, click on the Apply Changes button, and verify whether the connection is OK by checking the Internet Status message in the top right corner.
