To set up Wi-Fi with Verizon in Windows 7, verify your Internet connection, connect the wireless adapter to the computer and configure the wireless network parameters through the Manage Wireless Networks section in the Control Panel. After the configuration is complete, add other computers and devices to the wireless network.
If your computer doesn’t feature a built-in wireless adapter, connect the adapter that Verizon provided to you via a USB port. If you have an Internet connection, Windows 7 should automatically download the necessary drivers and prepare the adapter for use. Otherwise, install the drivers manually via the setup disc that came with the adapter. Once the adapter installation finalizes, a message should appear above the taskbar.
To configure the wireless network, open the Control Panel, click on the View Network Status and Tasks link in the Network and Internet section, and click on the Manage Wireless Networks link. Once the management window appears, click on the Add button, select the Manually Create a Network option, and complete the configuration by entering the desired network name and security key, choosing a security and encryption type, and clicking Next.
To add other computers and devices to the network, select the wireless network you created earlier via the network icon located in the taskbar on your computer or the Wi-Fi icon on your mobile device.
