If you are using an updated Mac, iPhoto automatically opens in Import mode. Once in the iPhoto window, either click the Import All button to import all the photos from the camera or hold the Command key while you click on each photo you want to import and then click on the Import Selected button. After the import is complete, click on the Eject button, turn off the camera, and disconnect it from the Mac. If you don't have iPhoto, you can use Image Capture.
