Users can set up the Belkin N300 using the Setup CD that comes with the router, using the router's built-in web-based setup or using a feature called Simple Start. Belkin's website offers detailed instructions on setting up the N300 wireless router.
The fastest way to set up the Belkin N300 is using the Simple Start application from your laptop or mobile device. After unpacking the router from the box, plug the router into the modem (provided by your Internet Service Provider) using an Ethernet cable. The back of the router has a yellow port labeled Modem Port, indicating where to plug in the Ethernet cable. Next, plug the router into the wall outlet using the provided power adapter. Enter "http://router" in your browser on your computer or mobile device and complete the setup.
Another option for setting up the N300 router is using the Setup CD that came with your router. Before setting up the router, verify that your modem has an Internet connection. If there is a connection to the Internet, connect the router to the modem as explained in the paragraph above. Next, connect your computer to one of the available ports on the router. If you are using a wireless device, you must connect it to the router with an Ethernet cable for the initial setup. Insert the Setup CD into your computer. When prompted, enter the Network Name (SSID) and Password found at the back of your router, and then click Next. Newer Belkin routers have the SSID and Password listed on the bottom of the router, as of 2015. Setup of your router is now complete.
