The Amped Wireless range extender ships with a setup guide and a CD that contains a clear and detailed user manual and an installation video. Refer to the manual and installation video prior to starting with the setup.
The Amped Wireless range extender expands the range of a Wi-Fi network by receiving the signal from the wireless router and then amplifying and redistributing it to a new, extended location. The first step to set up the Amped Wireless range extender is to connect the computer to it. Place the extender center between the router and the vicinity where the wireless clients begin to lose connectivity.
Plug the device into an outlet, and switch it on. The Amped Wireless logo illuminates and glows white. Once connected, open the web browser, and access the setup wizard to configure the extender. The documentation suggests using the Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer version 8 or higher browsers for the browser-based configuration. Scan for the existing wireless networks in the setup wizard.
The wizard displays a list of all the wireless networks within range. Select the network to be extended by clicking on the radio button next to the respective network. The setup wizard automatically configures the Internet connection and customizes the wireless network. The wizard displays the channel, 802.11 x levels, SSID, signal strength, security and encryption type for each network. The final step is to apply the settings.
