  1. Start the Web browser

    Run the browser program on the computer, or double-click the shortcut icon to open it.

  2. Navigate to Facebook

    In the address bar, enter the following address: "facebook.com", and press enter. Do not log in to Facebook yet. Close any other browser tabs that are open by clicking on the X icons on the other tabs.

  3. Open the browser settings

    Each browser has its own way to access the settings menu. In Internet Explorer 11, click the gear icon in the top-right of the window, and then in that menu, click Internet options. In Firefox version 33.0, click the menu button, which appears as three horizontal bars, and click Options, then click the General tab. In Google Chrome version 38, click the menu button, which appears as three horizontal bars, and click Settings.

  4. Set the homepage

    In Internet Explorer 11, click the Use Current button within the home page settings subsection, then confirm that https://www.facebook.com appears in the text box. Click OK to close the settings.
