Before listing a car on Craigslist, ensure you have the legal rights and paperwork to sell it, advises Money Crashers. Fill out the Craigslist form with the car's basic information, an in-depth description of the car's condition and the sale price. Include photographs and contact information, says The Car Connection.
To post on Craigslist, visit the Craigslist website for the area closest to you. Click Post to Classifieds in the top left corner of the page. Click the For Sale by Owner radio button and continue to the next page, explains the Houston Chronicle. Choose Cars and Trucks - By Owner, and then fill out the provided form.
Create a post title that mentions the car's make, model and year, says Money Crashers. Check your spelling to ensure potential buyers can find your listing in search results. Use the optional text boxes to list price and location.
In the Description text box, restate the car's basic information and explain its condition in detail, says The Car Connection. Mention the car's features and specifications as well as any damage, accident or problems. Provide multiple ways for buyers to contact you with any questions.
Click Continue to proceed to the photo upload page. Money Crashers recommends cleaning the car before taking photos of its exterior, driver's side, trunk, backseat and dashboard. Click the final button to publish your ad. Check your email for a confirmation, and then verify the posting is live on Craigslist.
