Included in its portfolio are the digital and contextual advertising agencies Index20 and Begun, which Google tried to purchase for $145 million in 2014 before Russian regulators blocked the deal. The company also owns Rambler Telecom, a broadband Internet service provider. The company began in 1996 in Moscow and currently employs 665 people. Its current CEO is Nicolay Molibog, as of December 2015.
In 2013, Rambler announced that it was merging with SUP Media, one of the largest Internet media providers in the country. The two companies became the third largest Internet provider in Russia with more than 35 million visitors. Approximately 65 percent of Internet users in Russia visit Rambler.ru at least once daily.
