As of 2015, the majority of CNET’s review of Windows 10 praises the operating system, noting its fresh look and how it bridges the gap between computers and tablets. PC MAG also provides positive reviews with a four out of five-star rating and admires that Microsoft gives users a free upgrade for those that own the Windows 8 operating system. Both reviews also note negative qualities, including the lack of extensions and the necessity of a touch screen for navigation.
The new operating system provides new features, including the ability to rearrange animated, live tiles. CNET provides positive reviews for Windows 10 since it does not include some of the features that plagued the older operating system, such as its tile screen. Although CNET believes the removal of the tile screen is an advantage, many of its users want the feature back. Currently, the tile screen is part of the Start menu button.
PC MAG positively notes that advantages for the operating system include a voice digital responsive assist program called Cortana and a fast launch while starting up. PC MAG also gave the operating system praise, notably for its music and video apps. However, a notable disadvantage to this system is that it is less touch-friendly than its predecessor.
