Open up your web browser and enter the default router IP address into the address bar at the top of the browser. The default IP address for a Linksys router is 192.168.1.1. When prompted, enter your current username and password.
At the top of the web page, click the tab labeled Administration. A second row of navigation options appears.
Click the sub-menu item labeled Factory Defaults. Then, click the button labeled Restore Factory Defaults. The router is reset.
Click the Administration tab again. Then, click the Management link in the sub-menu. Enter and re-enter your new password. Click Save Settings to save your password.
If you forgot your old password or the previous steps were unsuccessful in resetting your router, perform a hard reset. Locate the Reset button on your router, which is typically found on the back of the Linksys router. Using a pin or other pointy object, press and hold the Reset button for at least 10 seconds. The Power light blinks when the router is being reset.
