There are two types of resets for the iPhone 5c. To enable a restart or soft reset, hold the power button, and slide the power switch to the right when it appears. To initiate a factory reset, go to Settings, choose Reset, and follow the instructions provided.
A soft reset is equivalent to turning the device off and then on again. It can be useful for problems such as continuous rebooting, freezing, crashing and an unresponsive keyboard. During a soft reset, hold the power button until "Slide to power off" appears. Slide the power switch to the right, and wait until the device turns off. After the device has turned off, hold the power button until the Apple logo appears. If the device does not respond, hold the Home and power button simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds or until the Apple logo appears.
Hard resets restore the phone to factory settings and potentially delete user data. Prior to enabling a hard reset, back up the internal memory data. Access Settings, and select General. Tap Reset, and select the desired options. Users can select options such as Reset All Settings, Erase All Contents and Settings, and Reset Network Settings. Once the desired options are selected, enter the device password, and confirm the hard reset.
