Google Places is now named Google My Business, and it allows you to link your business profile to your location on Google Maps. A Google My Business profile includes business information and customer reviews. Sign up for a free Google My Business profile on the Google My Business homepage.
In order to qualify for a Google My Business profile, your business must have in-person contact with customers during its stated business hours. Exceptions are made for ATMs, video-rental kiosks and express mail drop-boxes, but you must include customer service contact information in your listing if you are such a business.
Businesses that are under construction or that have not yet opened to the public are not eligible to advertise using Google My Businesses. Businesses engaged in fraudulent or otherwise illegal activity are also prohibited from using Google My Business.
In addition, you may not use Google My Business to advertise a class, meeting or service at a location that you do not own or have the owner's authorization to represent, and nor may you list individual rental properties or properties for sale. This includes vacation homes, model homes and vacant apartments. However, sales and leasing offices are eligible for inclusion.
