As of September 2015, Republic Wireless does not support or plan to support BYOD (or bring your own device) service. A specialized phone is required for the company's Wi-Fi calling services, and all of the phones Republic Wireless sells meet the necessary technical specifications.
While no specific plan is in place to support BYOD service, the company is optimistic that the rise of Android devices and improvements in Wi-Fi and the Internet may make the service possible at some point in the future. Some phones from other sources are also locked by their manufacturers.
The Motorola company produces Republic Wireless phones, which include the Moto e (2nd gen) and the higher end Moto x (2nd gen). The company's website sells both phones in either black or white. Alternatively, customers may design their own phones using Motorola's Moto Maker service. However, this service is available only for the Moto x.
