Remove Norton AntiVirus software manually through the Add/Remove Programs section in the control panel or automatically by downloading the Norton Removal Tool and running it. Deleting the product's folders ensures complete uninstallation.
Access the Control Panel, and click the Add or Remove Programs button. Click on the Norton software listed. It may also be listed as a Symantec product. Click Remove, and then click the Remove All button to begin the process. Upon completion, follow the prompt to restart the computer.
Reboot the computer, and check to make sure the antivirus software is uninstalled. At times, the Norton AntiVirus setup may be a failed installation or damaged product. To remove it, download the Norton Removal Tool from the link provided on the official Norton site. Save the tool to your PC, and close all Norton application windows. Run the tool by double-clicking its icon, and follow the prompt to reboot the computer.
After performing a reboot, the Norton product should be uninstalled. To clean the computer completely of the antivirus, access My Computer, and double-click Drive C. Double-click on Program Files to check for any Norton/Symantec product folders. Delete them. Do the same for Program Files\Common Files, and delete any Norton AntiVirus product folders.
