The Committee on Infectious Diseases (COID) of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is responsible for developing and revising guidelines for the AAP for control of infectious diseases in infants, children, and adolescents. This group is comprised of four physicians: Larry K. Pickering, MD, FAAP; Carol J. Baker, MD, FAAP; David W. Kimberlin, MD, FAAP; Sarah S. Long, MD, FAAP.
The Red Book Online has five sections and appendices. The sections are: Active and Passive Immunizations, Recommendations for Care of Children in Special Circumstances, Summaries of Infectious Diseases, Antimicrobial Agents and Related Therapies and Antimicrobial Prophylaxis. The Red Book is a source of information on immunizations and infectious diseases for practitioners.
A new edition of Red Book is published every 3 years, and Red Book Online is kept updated throughout those 3 years, though, according to the AAP.
