To recover the password on an HP laptop, use the offline Windows password and registry editor software. First, download the Windows password and registry editor, and then burn the Windows password and registry editor ISO file to a blank compact disc or a universal serial bus drive.
Next, set the HP laptop to boot from the CD or USB drive through the BIOS setup. Once the offline Windows password and registry editor software starts up successfully, reset the password in the DOS setting by the prompted steps.
If there exists another administrator user account, then use this account to reset the password. Log into Windows in the safe mode using the administrator account, and click on the Control Panel. Next, open the user accounts to view the list of users. Select the user account that needs the password recovered, and then select the Change Password or Remove Password option.
Enter the new password in the space provided, and then re-enter the password the password for confirmation. Enter a password hint for future recovery, and click the OK button to complete the process.
Another method of password recovery is to use the Windows password rescuer software. Download and install the software, and then run the software to create a password recovery boot disk. Set the HP laptop to boot from the CD. The Windows password rescuer automatically begins. Choose the respective user account, and click the reset password option.
