Recover deleted emails using the Recover Deleted Messages option in Microsoft Outlook. Microsoft discontinued Hotmail services in 2013 and migrated its users to Outlook. You do not need to create a new Outlook email address to attempt the recovery, but the deleted messages may not have transferred during the migration.
- Sign in to Outlook
Open a Web browser, and navigate to the Outlook home page. Type your hotmail email address in the appropriate text field. Next, type your password, and press Enter to open Outlook. You can create a new Outlook address; however, your Hotmail inbox and messages do not transfer.
- Review the new interface
Go through Microsoft's introduction to Outlook, and click each part to get accustomed to the new interface. Click the Finish or Done button to continue to your inbox.
- Check the deleted folder
Click the Deleted folder in the left pane, and check for your deleted messages. If you do not see them, look for the Recover Deleted Messages link at the bottom of the page. Click the link, and wait for Outlook to recover as many messages as possible. Depending on when you deleted your messages, Outlook may not be able to recover everything. Some messages may be lost forever.
