Realtek Semiconductor Corporation, established in Taiwan’s Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park in 1987, is one of the largest integrated circuit and application-specific integrated circuit companies in the world, as of 2014. The company designs and develops IC products for communications networking, computer peripherals and multimedia applications.
Communications ICs include network interface controllers, gigabit Ethernet controllers and network switch controllers, among others. Examples of computer peripheral IC products are audio codecs and card-reader controllers. LCD monitor controllers and digital media processors are part of Realtek’s multimedia product line. Realtek’s small group of founding engineers has grown the company to include more than 2,000 employees, as of 2014. Realtek company stock has been traded on the Taiwan Stock Exchange since 1998.
