An HDMI adapter is a device that connects an HDMI port to another HDMI, VGA, DVI, USB or composite port. An HDMI adapter might function as a connectivity device if it uses two common signals, or as a converter between devices in cases where one signal is not HDMI.
HDMI adapters carry both audio and video, and there is virtually no quality loss during data transmission. These adaptors are bi-directional, implying that they can transmit audio and video from HDMI sources to nonHDMI devices, or vice-versa. Some HDMI adapters are also used to extend the length of an original HDMI cable.
