Founded in 1930 by James Kensey Wilkinson, Wilko is a British retail chain that is headquartered in Manton Wood, Worksop, United Kingdom. Following the founder's death in 1997, the company was taken over by his son, Tony Wilkinson, who served until his retirement in 2005. Since that time, the company is jointly run by Tony Wilkinson's daughter, Lisa Wilkinson, and his niece, Karin Swann.
The company began rebranding its stores using the Wilko name in 2012, and by 2014, nearly all of its stores were using this name. As of 2015, Wilko operates more than 370 retail locations throughout England and Scotland. The majority of Wilko stores are located in downtown "High Street" areas.
