How Do You Print a Screen in Windows 7?

To print a screen in Windows 7, navigate to the window, application or screen you want to print and press the Print Screen key (often labelled Prt Sc), which is located above the arrow keys. Start Microsoft Paint and paste in the image you capture this way. Save the image as a BMP file, and select the Print option.

  1. Capture the image of a screen

Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the window, folder or a file you want to capture, then press the Print Screen key, which may be labelled with an abbreviation. If you want to capture only the content displayed in the active window, click on it so it’s displayed above other content, and press the Print Screen key while holding down Alt.

  2. Start Microsoft Paint

Click on the Start button and select the All Programs option. Click on the Accessories folder, then click on Paint.

  3. Save the image as a BMP file

Click on the Paste button in the top left corner to import the image. Alternatively, hold down Ctrl and press V. Once the image appears in Paint, click on the blue Menu button, hover over the Save As option with your mouse pointer, and select the BMP option. Type in the file name, and click on Save.

  4. Print the screen

Once the image is saved, click on the Menu button, and select the Print option. Select the printer that you use, enter the number of copies you wish to produce, and click on the Print button to complete the process.
