Printing from an iPhone can be done in several ways and these include using the AirPrint feature designed by Apple Inc. for iDevices. AirPrint is an embedded feature in the OS X and iOS platforms that enables iDevices to print to an AirPrint compatible printer wirelessly. Among the printer brands that are compatible with the AirPrint feature are Canon, HP, Samsung, Brother, Epson, Lexmark and Ricoh.
The AirPrint allows iPhone and other iDevices to connect to a target printer using wireless LAN or Wi-Fi. The following shows the basic method of printing from an iPhone:
- Enable Wi-Fi connections
- Select the printer
- Print the file
Connect both the iPhone and the printer to the wireless network in the home or office. Keep in mind that there may be several network connections in an office, so link the iPhone to the network where the target printer is connected.
Launch the app from where the file will be printed from. Check the connection by tapping "print" and check if the target printer is automatically selected. If not, tap on "Select Printer" and the iPhone will scan for other AirPrint capable printers. Select the preferred printer and move on to the next step.
Once the right printer has been selected, tap on the "+" if multiple printed copies of the file are needed. Tap on "Print" to begin printing the file.
