How Do You Print a 3-Inch by 5-Inch Index Card?
To print a 3-inch by 5-inch index card in Microsoft Word, click the Page Layout tab and select Index Card under Size in the Page Setup Group, and type the information for the index cards into the Word document. Print the cards using index cards or special card stock.

Prepare the printer
Test your printer with a piece of card stock before preparing the document. Not all printers can handle thicker stock. Check for smears. Perforated 3-inch by 5-inch index cards for printing your own index cards are available, or you can use regular card stock.

Set up the document
In Microsoft Word, go to File and then New Blank Document. Click on the Page Layout or Layout tab in the top menu bar. Click Size within the Page Setup group, and select Index Card. If Index Card is not an option, look for a 3 x 5 option.

Create your content
In your Word document, type the information you want to appear on your index cards. If you need to change the orientation from the default Portrait to Landscape, go to the Page Layout tab and click on Orientation under the Page Setup group.

Print your cards
Load your printer with blank index cards, card stock or special index card paper. Go to File, then Print to print your completed index cards.
