LG, Panasonic, Samsung and Sony TVs are among the most popular and best rated, according to Consumer Reports. Vizio and Sharp are also popular and high rated brands, as of 2015. TV buyers surveyed by Consumer Reports reported a low rate of repairs for these brands.
LG, Panasonic, Samsung and Sony TVs all received a grade of A by Consumer Reports, where Vizio and Sharp received a grade of B. Brands receiving a grade of C+ included Insignia, Toshiba, JVC, Philips, Magnavox and Sanyo.
In addition to the brand name, features are becoming increasingly important when shopping for a TV. Screen type choices include variations of LCD, LED and OLED models, as well as Plasma TV and Curved TV. Resolution choices include HD-ready, full HD, Ultra HD and 4K. The size of the TV is also important and careful consideration should be given to the size of the room where the TV will be placed. Experts typically recommend 32-inch TVs for small rooms or bedrooms and 50 to 55-inch large screens for home theaters.
Once the size and features of a TV are decided upon, finding a grade A TV that is built to last a long time with little or no repairs is simple.
