According to Dish Network, “El Chavo” and “Laura” are some of the most popular shows on UniMas. As of January 2016, both shows air frequently on the network along with other shows, such as “Ruta 35” and “Veredicto Final.”
“El Chavo” is a Mexican sitcom starring the show’s creator, Roberto Gómez Bolaños. The series follows a poor orphan boy, nicknamed El Chavo, as he lives in a low-income housing complex. In 1971, “El Chavo” first appeared as a sketch on the “Chespirito” show before developing into its own series. The show ran for eight seasons with 290 episodes before coming to a close in 1980. Since 2011, the show has been featured on UniMas in the United States after being broadcast on its sister network Univision.
“Laura” is a Peruvian talk show hosted by Laura Bozzo that covers a variety of topics, including drug addiction and domestic violence. In 1998, the show first debuted as “Laura en America” after Bozzo previously starred in a similar show called “Intimidades.” The show soon became one of the most-watched shows in Peru and in several Latin American countries. “Laura” later became available in the United States and received a boost in ratings on Telemundo before eventually moving to UniMas.
