In order to play games at Friv.com, hover the cursor on top of the thumbnail and click on it. Each thumbnail on the home screen is a link to an actual game, and each game hosts its instructions on the side menu bar of the hub. The actual instructions vary according to the game being played.
Friv.com launched in 2006, but grew in popularity after Google placed it on its Zeitgeist list in 2010. Since then, the site has not changed its format and continues to host popular Flash games, updating them periodically throughout the years.
The layout on Friv.com's home page is simple, including 250 icons laid out in several blocked thumbnails. When one of the games is highlighted, the cursor will create a large yellow bubble that shows the name of the game.
Due to the variety of games hosted at Friv.com, gamers cannot expect every game to use the same type of controls. While some may only require a mouse, others may also use a keyboard. Each game is played inside of a framed-in screen, showing the Friv logo. On the side of the screen, there is a list of instructions, explaining how the game works and what buttons to use.
