VIRTUS offers several programs with online learning components for adults and children, including the Protecting God's Children, Touching Safety Program for Children; Protecting God's Children for Adults; the Bullying Prevention Program; and the Technology Safety and Security, explains the organization's website. The programs involve instructor-led awareness sessions, as well as ongoing access to online training bulletins and modules. VIRTUS programs help churches prevent members from engaging in destructive or unsafe behaviors.
Both of the Protecting God's Children programs focus on sexual abuse prevention, describes VIRTUS. The program for adults teaches participants how to identify warning signs of sexual abuse and equips them with five steps they can follow to prevent child sexual abuse. The program for children teaches participants ways to protect themselves and how to spot warning signs of someone who intends to hurt them. It is a school-based program, and educators receive a video titled "Power to Protect," which guides them in implementing the program.
The Bullying Prevention Program is for parents, school employees, religious educators and daycare professionals, notes VIRTUS. It educates them on three main topics: warning signs that a child is being bullied, warning signs that a child bullies others, and ways adults can respond to bullying. The Technology Safety and Security program targets the same audience and provides strategies for identifying and dealing with technology-related abuse.
