How Does Office 365 Work?

Office 365 is a Microsoft subscription service that offers access to Microsoft Office and online productivity services. Office 365 subscription plans are paid for monthly or annually. Most plans include the desktop versions of the latest Office applications.

Office applications are available for download on most desktops, laptops, tablets and Android phones, and they can be downloaded on multiple platforms. The included Microsoft Office applications are Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook. Publisher and Access are also included. Office 365 is also available as an online-only plan, which includes Skype for Business Web conferencing and Exchange Online email services.

Microsoft offers Office 365 Business Essentials, Office 365 Business and Office 365 Business Premium. Office 365 Business Essentials is the online-only version of Office 365. The plan features email capabilities with 50 gigabytes of mailbox space, one terabyte of file storage and sharing, high-definition Web conferencing and the online version of Office applications.

Office 365 Business offers the desktop versions of Office applications for up to five devices. Office 365 Business also has one terabyte of file storage and sharing, but no access to Exchange Online email services. Office 365 Business Premium includes all of the features in the Business and Business Essentials plans, such as online video conferencing, email services, desktop applications and one terabyte of file storage and sharing.
