Microsoft provides free training for its Excel software at Office Training Center. The training center has courses for Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS and Windows Phone operating systems. A Microsoft account is not required to access the training content.
The training center offers both text and annotated video courses. The videos advance at a slow pace and are easy to follow. Use the search box at the top-right to access a specific course. The training center has courses for Excel versions 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016.
Because the training center presents the course contents in a linear way, it is not possible to jump directly to the more advanced parts of a course. However, you can skip an individual course by clicking Next below the course title. Likewise, clicking Back reopens the previous course.
Alternatively, you can use the help tool to learn more about a feature. With the Excel window active, press F1 or click the blue help button at the top-right to open it. Search for an Excel feature using the search box, and follow the step-by-step instructions.
If you do not have an Office license, you can download a free trial of Office 365 to practice the training content. The trial offer includes the latest version of Microsoft Excel and lasts for a month. A Microsoft account and a credit card are required. You can cancel your subscription at any time to not pay once the trial ends. The trial runs on Windows 7 and up and Mac OS X 10.10 and up.
