The country's largest cable provider since 2002, Comcast Cable Communications serves more than 20 million customers, providing cable, Internet and telephone services, which the company markets as a bundle under the Xfinity brand in its major markets. Operating in 29 states, Time Warner Cable is the second-largest cable company in the country and serves more than 10 million customers. It also offers home security services and cable advertising and operates several news and sports channels, such as TWC News, TWC Sportsnet and TWC Central.
Fifth-largest cable provider Adelphia Communications serves more than 5 million customers, with operations in 30 states and Puerto Rico. Charter Communications serves 6 million customers, mainly in the Midwest and Ohio Valley regions. Cox Communications operates mostly in the southern states, while Mediacom operates across 23 states, mostly in rural towns and small cities. Bright House Metworks operates in California, Florida and the Great Lakes states.
