MyLife is a subscription-based, personal search service. The site offers members a way to get in touch with friends and family. It also allows members to manage their online identity and control the way in which it is dispersed.
In 2011, MyLife was faced with a class action lawsuit claiming that the company was responsible for false solicitation by offering members a monthly rate and then charging them the annual renewal rate. Victims also claimed that their address books from their email clients were hacked by MyLife, resulting in family and friends being spammed by unsolicited emails from the company. To resolve the complaint, the company agreed to an assurance of discontinuance and paid $28,000 in attorney's costs and fees.
By 2012, the Better Business Bureau closed almost 950 complaints against the company and granted MyLife a rating of A-. As of September 2014, there were only 169 complaints closed by the BBB, which was considerably less than the number only 2 years prior. The rating for MyLife also increased to an A+.
MyLife has its headquarters in Westwood Village, located in Los Angeles, California. As of December 2014, the site has more than 60 million members and 700 million profiles. MyLife also offers apps compatible with Android and iOS platforms.
