According to Media Bistro, globally, people spend an average of 16 hours a month on the Internet. The most popular activity on the Internet is emailing, followed by using search engines, reading health and medical information, searching for directions and checking the weather.
When it comes to how time is spent online, people spend 22 percent of their time on social networking, 21 percent of their time searching and 20 percent of their time reading.
The United Kingdom leads the world with 86 percent of their population having Internet access, followed by Germany, France and Japan. Rounding out the top five is the United States with 79 percent of the population having Internet access.
