Motorcycles that come with GPS include the 2016 Honda Gold Wing and the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1M. Unlike other motorcycles, the GPS systems of these motorbikes come as part of the motorcycle rather than as an accessory which the buyer has to purchase separately.
The Honda Gold Wing has a Garmin GPS system installed on the dashboard. The GPS system has a wide variety of functions beyond just showing the location of the motorbike on a map. The user can plan a trip on a computer and upload them into the navigation system. The GPS system also has the ability to share routes with friends as well as download maps from other users. It also has a lane guidance feature. Garmin periodically updates the software to ensure that the receiver works better and the maps are kept up-to-date.
The 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1M’s GPS system is integrated into the bike’s communication control unit. The data collected from the GPS like course mapping and automatic lap timing can be downloaded from the GPS via the bike’s onboard Wi-Fi to the Y-TRAC application. The rider can analyze the information from the application, make changes within the application then upload them back to the motorbike.
