MicroType is a software program that teaches typing skills. The software uses a combination of tutorials, reinforcement activities and educational games to teach basic keyboarding skills.
The software also contains a built-in word processor and an application called Web Reporter that allows instructors to remotely access the keyboarding reports of students.
Lessons include a variety of activities that mostly focus on specific groupings of keys. There are also a number of interactive games that reinforce typing skills, such as Connect It and Key-A-Shot. The software generates a report after each lesson and activity. Once students have mastered individual key groupings, they can move on to a series of 25 lessons that improve speed and control.
