To view a Microsoft Word user guide, access it from the Office Training Center section on Office.com by starting a training course or downloading the quick start guide from the Word Training section. Alternatively, access the user guide by opening the Help section within the program itself.
Navigate to Office.com, click on the Support button, click on Training, and select the Office Training Center option. Click on the Word icon in the list of apps, and select the training course for your version of the program. As of 2015, the Office Training Center section includes written and video user guides for Microsoft Word versions 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016. To download the quick start guide for the latest version, click on the Office 2016 Quick Start Guides link, and then click on the Download PDF link in the Word 2016 section.
After selecting a training course, click on the Go to Course button, and peruse the guide that explains the basics such as creating new documents, inserting new items into existing documents, and adding headers and footers, among other topics. To access the user guide from Word, start the program, and click on the question mark button. Alternatively, press the F1 key. Once the Word Help window appears, click on the book icon to access the table of contents, click on a category, and select the desired topic.
