Microsoft Word offers online forms for free to people who are already Microsoft Office customers. The Microsoft Office Online website offers numerous templates to choose from. Users must have a copy of Microsoft Word to download the templates.
Microsoft Word also comes pre-installed with a form creation function. In order to access this function, a user must first create a base template. Once he has created the base template, the program prompts the user to add content controls such as text boxes, date pickers and drop-down lists. The native form function can only be accessed in the 2007 version of Microsoft Word.
