There are no versions of Microsoft Windows designed specifically for the United Kingdom. However, due to a European antitrust ruling, most versions of Windows sold in the United Kingdom and around the European Union are special "N" editions that do not include Windows Media Player.
Although there are no editions of Windows made specifically for the United Kingdom, the default locale and keyboard layout options are usually configured to British settings for copies sold in the United Kingdom. However, regional settings of this kind can be easily changed during normal use.
As of 2015, the European Commission's 2004 antitrust ruling that prompted Microsoft to sell Windows "N" (Not with Media Player) editions in Europe remains unrepealed. These Windows "N" editions lack inbuilt functionality to play audio and video, or transfer music to personal media players.
