Microsoft Money was last released as a personal finance tool in 2007 and the online resources that fueled the program were discontinued at the end of 2011. The program was effectively outdated, as the services it offered were easily accessed through online banking and bill paying networks.
The program worked by receiving automatic partner updates from the user's banks, credit card companies and other investment and financial corporations. The software also had automatic bill pay and a robust assortment of tools for keeping personal finances organized.
The last version released stripped the online data updates from the program and users of the software must manually enter information to keep the software functioning, according to Microsoft.
