MetroPCS is a wireless phone company that offers phone, text and data plans without annual contracts, according to the company's website. MetroPCS merged with T-Mobile in 2013, notes CNET.
MetroPCS only operates in 10 states, including California, Texas, Michigan, Massachusetts and New York, according to Bloomberg Businessweek. The company has been in operation since 1995 though it was originally called GWI PCS.
According to the company's website, it focuses on making wireless plans easier for its customers by offering unlimited plans that have all fees included in the upfront price. In 2014, T-Mobile began moving customers off the MetroPCS network to T-Mobile's network, according to CNET.
