At the end of 2014, three out of four people were using the Internet in total. This translates to about 3 billion people worldwide. The number has increased tenfold over 10 years.
Most of the Internet users are in Asia, specifically China, which has the most users globally. The Americas have the second-highest number of users; the United States specifically has the second most.
In a 2013 American Community Survey, based on a sample of 3.5 million households, a total of 74.4 percent of households reported Internet use. The statistics from this survey were used by the U.S. Census Bureau to help federal agencies measure the development of broadband networks.
