To make your Twitter timeline private, log in to your Twitter account, and access the account settings interface. From the Security and privacy settings screen, change the privacy settings to make your tweets private.
- Access your Twitter account
In a web browser, visit the Twitter website. Click the Sign in button in the upper-right corner of the screen. Enter your login credentials, and click Log in.
- Open your account settings
In the upper-right corner of the screen, click on your profile. A dropdown menu appears. Click the Settings option from that menu.
- Access the security settings
On the left side of the screen, click the Security and privacy settings link. A new screen loads with all of the default settings selected.
- Make your Twitter private
Scroll down and find the menu labeled Privacy. In the sub-menu labeled Tweet privacy, click the check box next to the option labeled Protect my Tweets. This settings only allows users that you approve to view your Tweets. Also, only users you approve are able to retweet your Tweets, and your Tweets cannot be accessed via a search engine.
- Save your changes
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen. Click on the button labeled Save changes.
