A cable modem itself cannot be wireless because it uses a digital cable signal; however, it can be connected to the wireless router. The router is a special box that sends wireless signals out to users inside of a building, allowing them to connect to and use the Internet via their wireless card.
To connect a wireless router to a cable modem, first turn it off completely. Use the following steps to install a wireless router to a cable modem.
- Reset the modem
- Connect the Ethernet cable
- Turn the computer on
Reset the modem and leave the computer off.
The Ethernet cable connects from the cable modem to the router and is used to provide the network signal.
Turn on the computer and set the network preferences for the wireless router.
