An SSID number is often printed on a sticker on the body of the router. You can also find the SSID number by connecting your computer to the router using an Ethernet cable and using a Web browser to visit the IP address 192.168.1.1.
If you can locate the SSID number on your router, you also need the password printed on the sticker to connect to the wireless Internet. If you were unable to find the sticker, follow the instructions below.
Use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer to your router, access a Web browser and enter "192.168.1.1", "192.168.0.1" or "192.168.2.1" into the URL space. If of these addresses work, check your instruction manual for the Web interface address.
Once you have accessed the Web interface, you need to log in as an administrator. If this is your first time logging in, use the admin name and password provided in your manual. If you have logged in before, and changed your admin name or password, use the name and password that you set.
Once you have logged in to the Web interface, look for the wireless settings or router settings. The name of this page varies based on the model. Here, you should be able to see your SSID number.
If these steps do not work, review the information provided in your manual or contact your internet service provider.
