Laptop backup solutions include storing data on a physical disk or using a data backup service such as Carbonite that backs up the requested data on a storage server in the cloud. Both options require little technical knowledge of the subject and can be done quickly and securely.Continue Reading
If only a few smaller files need to be copied, a USB flash drive suffices. However, when backing up an entire system, an external drive may be needed. Connecting an external hard drive to a computer via a USB port allows the user to copy data from his computer and paste it into the directory of the drive. The drive can then be disconnected and stored safely in case the original files are compromised.
Cloud services such as Carbonite offers a backup solution without any need to store an external device that may be affected by its environment. Cloud services let users upload data to their servers, where they store it for a subscription fee. The data can later be retrieved from their servers as long as the subscription is maintained. The limiting factor to cloud services is Internet speed. While external drives transfer data as fast as physically possible, cloud services are limited to the users' Internet speeds.Learn more about Computers & Hardware
