Kindle continues to provide updates for its entire line of Kindle e-Readers, as well as its Kindle Fire tablets, as of 2015. The updates are automatically sent and installed to devices when connected to the Internet. However, owners also have the option to download the update manually from Amazon.com.
To download an update to your Kindle device manually, visit Amazon.com's Amazon Device Support page, located under Help & Customer Service section. There, you find a complete listing of Kindle models. Click on the picture of the model that you own, and then read the instructions carefully to find out whether an update is needed or not. If your device needs an update, click on the download link to save the file to your computer. Transfer this file to your Kindle device via USB cable to install. To ensure that you install the update successfully, read Amazon.com's tutorial for more detailed information.
