Total Wireless offers prepaid talk, text and data cellphone plans for individuals and families to its customers, as of 2015. The mobile virtual network operator provides plans that can be used on a customer's own compatible CDMA cell phone or on phones and mobile hotspots that Total Wireless sells.
The Total Wireless service plans are monthly plans with unlimited talk and text messages and a specified amount of data depending on the plan. The company offers one plan that includes no data while the other has 2.5 gigabytes of data per month. Family plan options are available for two users with 5 gigabytes of shared data, three users with 9 gigabytes or four users with 12 gigabytes. A wireless hotspot can count as one of the users on a family plans, meaning an individual with a hotspot needs a two-user plan.
Any unused data does not carry over to the next month unless subscribers purchase an additional data only-card after using up the plan's monthly allotment. Then any amount left at the end of the service period rolls over to the next month..
Total Wireless is owned by TracFone, which is a subsidiary of the giant Mexican multinational operator America Movil. It uses the Verizon network and service map with Wal-Mart having exclusive marketing rights.
