JailbreakMe is an iPhone app that jailbreaks iOS 6, allowing users to customize options normally prohibited by a regular iPhone. Jailbreaking an iPhone is legal in the United States, though Apple strongly recommends against it.
Many of the default applications on an iPhone are unchangeable, and using JailbreakMe on an iPhone alters the system to allow usage of any app, including those not accessible through the Apple Store. Despite the increase in options, there are a number of consequences to jailbreaking an iPhone, such as an increased risk of a security breach, a shortened battery life and possible incompatibility with Apple software updates. In addition to JailbreakMe, other apps that jailbreak iOS 6 include Evasion and Redsn0w.
