Before downloading and installing the Livescribe Desktop, a user should verify that the computer meets the hardware and software requirements for the program. Download the Livescribe Desktop from the official Livescribe setup.
Ensure you download and install Livescribe Desktop on the computer where you want to have the notes and audio. As of May 2015, system requirements needed for Livescribe Desktop include a personal computer running a Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system, a 600MHz or higher central processing unit, 300 MB of free disk space, a USB 2.0 port ,and an Internet connection for software download.
Once the download is complete, open the installer and follow the instructions provided on-screen to complete the installation process. When requested to dock the smartpen, use a USB mobile charging cradle for Pulse smartpens or micro-USB cable for Echo smartpens.
When using the Livescribe Desktop for the first time, users are prompted to log into their Livescribe online accounts. Completing this step authorizes the installation of Livescribe Desktop for that specific user account. For each user, all the Livescribe tools link to each other using the same email address and password. Users can have Livescribe Desktop on several computers and use several smartpens, but during authorization and registration, they must enter the same email address and password as the Livescribe online account.
