The Google Play Store application comes in an APK format. The first step is to download the APK file. Ensure to download it from trusted sources, as untrusted sources can provide a tampered file for download.
The next step is to enable the unknown sources setting. For security purposes, the setting is disabled by default. When the setting is disabled, it prevents users from installing applications from locations outside the Google Play Store. The setting has to be enabled, to install the APK file. This setting is present in either the security settings or the privacy settings of the HTC phone.
Open the file browser and navigate to the Google Play Store application location. Once the APK file is located, download it to the device. It gets stored in the downloads folder on the Secure Digital card. Click on the APK file, and a window pops up asking which application the user wishes to download. Choose the package installer application.
Click the install button. It takes a brief amount of time to install the Google Play Store on the device. Do not forget to go back to the device settings and disable the unknown sources check box following the installation process. The user can then download an array of applications using Google Play Store.
