To install the drivers for an HP Officejet 45000, connect the printer to a computer with an available USB port, and allow the device to automatically configure the necessary drivers for use. If the drivers fail, they need to be configured in the control panel.
Windows 7 users seeking to locate the control panel can easily do so by pressing the start button and selecting Control panel. Next, navigate to Hardware and Sound to access the Devices and Printers group. The HP Officejet 45000 is listed under Printers and Faxes. Right-click the HP Officejet 45000, and select Properties. The properties dialog box displays two tabs for both General and Hardware.
Select Hardware, and navigate to the properties button below Device Functions. A second dialog box allowing changes to the drivers appears. Select the Driver tab, and click Update Driver. If the file containing the driver is a known location on the system, select the manual driver install, and point to the path where it is located. If the file containing the driver is not on the system, Windows performs an Internet search to locate the driver and place it in the correct location.
It is possible that Windows may be unsuccessful in locating the driver necessary to operate the printer. If that is the case, the drivers need to be obtained directly from the manufacturer's website and installed manually as described above.
